Legendary beauty of a World Heritage Site

Ha Long Bay is world famous for its picturesque seascapes enshrouded year-long in mist. Legend has it that these centuries-old karsts, carpeted in lush greenery, are a gift from heaven and together form a natural fortress to protect the city against unwelcome visitors. When viewed from an elevated distance, the scattering arrangements conjure up an image of a water dragon, and thus the name “Ha Long” which translates as “Bay of Descending Dragons” was given to the area.

Set on the serene coastline of Bai Chay Beach, overlooking this spell-bound natural beauty, Novotel Ha Long Bay is a three-hour drive, or a one-hour scenic helicopter ride, from Hanoi. The highway cuts through small towns and endless stretches of rice fields before reaching Halong City, where a glimpse of towering limestone formations and the calm, peaceful bay comes into sight.
